Queer Wales on this Day

celebrates the history of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and queer community, along with other people of diverse genders and sexualities. Through a year of Welsh history, each daily entry paints a portrait of someone who made a difference by being true to themselves. Covering a wide range of cultural figures from well-known names such as writer and actor Emlyn Williams, footballer Jess Fishlock and screenwriter Russell T Davies to ordinary people from every part of society, historian Norena Shopland invites us to experience the highs and lows, the victories and struggles faced by the LGBTQ+ community from the earliest times to the present day. At a time when it is more important than ever to defend our freedom to be authentically ourselves, it is vital to recognise and celebrate those who have blazed the path before us. This welcoming and inclusive companion invites us to laugh with them, cry with them and cheer with them every day from 1 January to 31 December.
